Hi, these are some notes I took of my favourite ideas from our Souffle discussions:

In the foyer:
Small text notices put in subtle places. Wearing black and white. Start before the audience is aware. Bar staff/stewards/cleaners/members of audience (us) making subtle comments eg. "Have you heard the one about the condemmed man... " " Did you hear the story about the woman who stuck by her man after he... " A few newspapers scattered and read. Ask member of audience a crossword clue to get them to say significant quote word.

In the theatre:
The face pulling of Pat & Mick. Spotlight freezeframes. Spoken camera direction over mute movement. A frame placed around specifics that we want the audience to see. Quotes made up by us that fit with the themes of the film. Subliminal inner monologue. Thematic performance. CREATES CURIOSITY, not the plot. Looped actions but personally not in a Brechtian way. Thought bubble written.

The last thing we discussed was to have a sequel after the prequel starting with the crackle of white noise on a radio during the blackout where Patricia is interviewed about her time with Michel. During the film the radio cuts in out with snippets of news here and there. This could be the case with Pat's interview as we don't want to give too much away from the film and our purpose for this was to give an insight into Pat's perspective. I love George's idea of her saying something like "this is how it went..." and then the film starting however it would have to be worded differently because the film is from Mick's angle and not hers. I guess we'll figure it out tomorrow.

My fave quotes "you're ugly"(not accurate) "mind if I p*** in the basin?" "you're a louse Michel" "you're a louse" "I really like France. If you don't like the shore, if you don't like the mountains, if you don't like the city, then get stuffed!" "the short one's not bad, nice thighs, yeah but the other one... oh hell, they're dogs" "the French always say one second when they mean five minutes" "what's great is that she stuck by him, she said "I like you too" "Ecuse me, got a light? - here, go buy yourself some matches" "why are you so sad? - because I am - it's silly - why are you so sad?" "get lost, I never want to see you again, get lost, you louse" "quit pulling a long face! it doesn't suit you -pulling a long face? - doing like this"(faces) "just going for a paper" then cleans his shoes with it!
