Response to George
Hey George,
I'd help if I could but I can't :( I'm having trouble too so I think there are now two people in your class!
Hey All,
Please help me too as I can only post new posts instead of reponding to others. It seems this bog won't let me reply to anything and I don't know why. It says I don't have a google account which obviously I do because I've signed in and I'm writing this right now!!!! I seem to be doing ok with pictures though :)

George is stuck!
Guys!! I haven't got a clue what I'm doing on this here Blog :( I could, in hindsight, really do with a hand learning how to iuse this thing to it's full potential! If anyone fancies volunteering that would be gratefully recieved and in return, I will buy the volunteer a pint! Woohoo! I've got two of our 'Disco Pigs' scenes on my iPhone; myself and Nicole's and Samantha and Hania's :) I dunno how to upload them onto here, and I'm thinking I kinda need to! So yeah, a bit of a tutorial session would be marvellous :) Also, the teachings of the Facebook Group and Blackboard have not yet reached me, so any know-how on those and how to upload etc. onto them would also be fantasmic!! Cheers peeps :) Hope you're all having a good half term?! See ya next week :) x

Marxism definition
Here is the definition of Marxism from AS Level Sociology 2008 Webb R, Westergaard H, Trobe K, Steel L.
"A conflict perspective based on the ideas of Karl Marx (1818-83). It sees society as divided into two opposed classes, one of which exploits the labour of the other. In capitalist society, the bourgeoisie exploits the proletariat. Marx predicted the proletariat would unite and overthrow capitaliam and create a classless society."
Bourgeoisie - Marxist term for the capitalist class, the owners of the means of production.
Proletariat - the working class in capitalist society. They own no means of production and are "wage slaves", forced to sell their labour to the bourgeoisie in order to survive.

Thursday and Friday's lessons
Although it seemed that I didn't do much on Thursday, I found that experience really interesting. It was odd watching other people's interpretations of the script and how people stage it. Friday's lesson was a bit tricky for me, because I didn't know how to stage my monologue and what technique would be best. I feel that Sarah was right, learning the script would make the scene easier to stage and portray.
Disco Pigs speech/characters
I'm finding the more we read through the play, we're starting to find our own way of understanding the speech and I think this is starting to show after watching some of the pieces we did yesterday for Sarah to film. We're all starting to get a better understanding of the characters and I think once we know the lines of the units we're looking at, the characterisation will come more natrually :)

Brecht. And films
Please update on your work on BRecht, the reading, today's work and upload films.
Also, what do we think this play is about?
How should we stage it?

Disco pigs
I have really enjoyed the work so far on disco pigs. The subtext lesson i found really useful when not just reading scripts but also watching tv programmes and reading books/magazines! I have learnt that most things we do or say or read has subtext. I am really looking forward to creatingthis production and exploring different ways to do so.! :)
Disco Pigs
I genuinely didn't think that I would like disco pigs, but today has changed my view. I may just enjoy it now :) The subtext lesson was really helpful and has openend my eyes on how to read a script, without just glancing and repeating the words on the page.

Disco Pigs vs Yellow Moon
Minority vote came through. Democracy? Autocracy?
The decision has been made and we are starting to work on the script Disco Pigs by Edna Walsh.
Our first exercise after our staged reading is done in pairs. Pick any page from the script. Read through and find the subtext. Rewrite the scene as subtext and stage.
Please post your ideas on what the challenges and opportunities in working on and staging this script are.

Unit 3 beginnings!
Hello all and welcome to our new blog for unit 3 and maybe beyond.
This is a shared space for our new project where we can reflect as a company, share photos, links, ideas. It is not a replacement for Blackboard where all important course related information will still be found.
Thanks
